Ultrasound 20 WeeksToday was my third OB appointment and our second ultrasound. Already the baby has grown to 10.5 ounces and 6.5 inches long from head to bottom — about 10 inches from head to heel! Despite our best efforts to find out the gender, the little stinker wouldn’t cooperate for either the nurse or the doctor, and promptly covered its private parts with its hands every time they went in for a look. It even rotated it’s bottom up a couple times just to ensure there was no peeking. Silly baby. But everything looked really good with the pregnancy and the baby, so we weren’t disappointed.

When Marty and I were visiting his family in Kansas City, MO, I felt the baby move for the first time. At first I wasn’t sure that was what I was feeling (plus we had Indian food that night for dinner), but I knew I hadn’t felt anything like that before. Little did I know that this was the beginning of Hammer Time (as in MC Hammer) — it wasn’t too long after the first sensation that the baby was kicking and punching and somersaulting all over the place! At this stage, the baby weighs 5 ounces and is 5 inches long — about the size of a large onion!
