Flora has us guessing whether or not she’s actually talking these days … or if her various sounds are just perfectly timed. Her personal assistant (also known as Katherine) has sworn Flora has said “Yay!” twice while clapping her hands. This morning she saw Marty and said “DaDa” when she had just been saying a totally different string of “YaYaYa” sounds. And while reading the animal sounds book, I asked “Where’s the owl?” Flora replied “OOOOO” (the sound an owl makes). On a few occasions she has said what sounds like “Hi” while waving. And she makes a sound that is close to “Meow” when she hears the words “kitty cat.” We’re not ready to officially declare her first word (maybe I’m waiting for her to say “Mama” for that!) but she’s definitely going to have something to say soon.
In other news, she has been diving onto her tummy, rolling to and fro, and getting on her hands and knees and rocking. Crawling is just over the horizon — yikes!
I hope you have baby-proofing supplies on hand. As precocious as Flora is (no bias here), she will be into everything, then telling you all about her exploits. I can’t wait to hear what’s on her mind.–G.V.
O.K. Flora-if you can say YAY-change the first Y to K and add Gram in front then your first word would be Gram Kay!!! I will tell you your Father’s escapes at your age someday. 2 words come to mind-”Butt Itches” got into the wrong kind of bath soap?? and PuBar???? Still do not know what that meant??? LUV U!!!! Yesterday I sat with Flora on her play mat and asked her “Where’s your bear?” She looked around, grabbed her stuffed bear, and held it up to show me. No kidding. I have Amy as a witness. So Flora already understands what we’re saying. Amazing.
I do not doubt it! It is amazing what they can understand! Just work on the Kay!!!
P.S. I woke up last night and realized you said “Sabbar” not Pubar?? Any ideas from you what that meant?????
