Today I had my 12 month checkup with Dr. G. Despite my insatiable appetite, I weighed in at just 21 pounds, 10 ounces — a mere 1.6 pound gain over the past three months. Dr. G said I’m burning up a lot of my calories now with crawling. But I made up for my lack of weight gain in height when I measured 30.75″ tall — a 2.75″ gain and averaging nearly an inch per month! So how does that compare on the bell curve? I’m now just the 57th percentile for weight but the 91st percentile for height. Dr. G says I’m long and lean … maybe I’ll be a runway model some day?!
Dr. G warned Mom and Dad that around this age I might start to get temperamental. Little did she know that I’ve been temperamental for weeks! I mean, is it so hard for everyone to know exactly what I want when I want it, and then promptly give it to me in the precise manner in which I require it? I hardly think so.
I met the milestones Dr. G was looking for: saying words and babbling; crawling, rolling, sitting myself up, and standing; and feeding myself. She said it wouldn’t be long before I successfully got in a stance on my own, cruised along the furniture, and even took my first steps! I’m working on the standing and cruising now, and Dr. G. said 15 months is the marker for walking.
After my appointment, we stopped at the grocery store. But when we were unloading the bags into the car, Dad discovered I had lifted some blueberry kefir in my cart cover! Is that so wrong?
