Happy Halloween 2007

Geisha Girl

Flora received a steady stream of “oohs” and “awws” as she paraded down Main Street in Melrose for trick-or-treating. We had to take many “handy” (candy) pit stops to keep her moving and keep her wig-compliant. She had a big day starting with a Halloween party (aka Sugar Fest) at school, and then capped the night with some trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. With no energy left for carving pumpkins, Mom and Dad are left to that task after our little geisha goes to bed. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Visit From Papa and Amma

Flora Slides

My Papa and Amma came to visit me from Kansas City this weekend — we had so much fun hanging out and playing around! I took them to the JFK Library and Museum on Saturday, and followed up with a lunch at Legal Seafood’s Test Kitchen, LTK. On Sunday I brought them to a delicious brunch at the Blue Room in Cambridge, but playing with the leaves and running in the courtyard beforehand was even better (see entry above). The rest of the time we just played, played, played! Amma and Papa do whatever I ask, and they let me do whatever I want!

Just Call Me Angel of The Morning, Angel

Sunny Singing

Although a bit washed out, I thought this oops-picture was both angelic and eery. Flora was singing the A-B-C song and the morning sun had just popped up over the trees and shone through the window behind her. But don’t let this angelic face fool you. Her parents think she could possibly be possessed by Satan.

Enjoying The Fruits of Her Labor

For Flora … an edible art project, for her parents … a great big mess to clean up! But spending the evening making Halloween cutout cookies was fun for all, and even more fun for Flora the next day when she got to taste the fruits of her labor. This pumpkin cookie was all her own doing — note the overflowing frosting and pile of raisins.

I See Pumpkins … Everywhere!

There Are Pumpkins All Around Me!

Is it just me, or are pumpkins everywhere a little scary? Mom, Dad, and I went to the Pumpkin Patch at the Second Congregational Church of Winchester and selected a few pumpkins after I thoroughly inspected all of my choices. My favorites were the little baby ones — just the perfect size to cuddle and touch to my cheek. I had fun rearranging the gourd display and peeking through the wood cutouts. Plus, I got to eat some homemade blueberry muffins and pumpkin bread — yum!

21 Months Old

Sunday, October 14th, 2007

I made it impossible for my parents to snap a good photo of me today — my hair is quite overdue for a trim and I hate to have a bad photo of me circulating out there. But I did let them weigh and measure me, and I am now 28 pounds, 2 ounces and 34″ tall — that’s a gain of 3 pounds and 2″ during the past three months. How’s that for some good eating?

“Bahr-Bies”

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007

Flora coined her own word for boobies, “brah-brahs,” after going bra shopping with me one day several months ago. We always got a chuckle out of it. But after Gram K recently sent Flora a Barbie doll (which immediately needed to be stripped of all its clothing, never, ever to be put back on again), she changed her word to “bahr-bies.” Should I be worried about any subconscious damage to her psyche?

Money Cage

On Saturday, SSgA sponsored a free day at the Franklin Park Zoo in Dorchester. Flora’s favorite display was this money “cage,” and despite numerous explanations, she really wanted at all that money! But she also enjoyed seeing the lion roar from up high, the gorilla curl up down low, and the various other animals roam about.
