Although Monday’s event gave us the swift kick in the ass we needed to get ready for Number Two’s arrival, there has been no new developments since then. Today I am 1.5 cm dilated, so we’re progressing, but thankfully slower than I initially worried. We’ll be sure to post an entry should I go into labor! In the meantime, I’m just trying to finish up my to-do list and take it easy.

No New Number Two News
Thursday, May 29th, 200837 Weeks
Monday, May 26th, 2008As of last week, I’m already 1cm dilated, and this morning another “event” happened that could indicate an early arrival! Although the books say labor could be hours or still weeks away, with Flora, my water broke the following evening after said “event.” Hopefully that won’t be the case here — we’re still frantically preparing for Number Two to hit the scene. My next OB appointment is Thursday, if I don’t “pop” before then.
With Marty taking the GMAT on Saturday and me fitting in a Spa Day on Sunday, we didn’t snap any photos of Flora this Memorial Day weekend. But she did get to go to a cookout and the playground a couple of times, as well as fill up her kiddie pool for the first time this season!
In Other Big Girl News …
Monday, May 19th, 2008… I slept in my new, big girl room and big girl bed last night for the very first time (pictures forthcoming)! Mom and Dad sweetened the deal by letting me take all my guys to bed with me, even the big ones … my big white polar bear, my big pooh bear, mommy’s old Eeyore, my Jelly Cat collection (big brown bear, big lamby, big bunny), Rusty and Murphy the dogs, Pizza the cat, and a few others for good measure. Coupled with my four pillows, butterfly pillow, and body pillow, Mom had a hard time finding me in there! I slept the whole night without making a peep — Mom and Dad are hoping for a repeat performance tonight!
UPDATE: Flora has been sleeping in her new, big girl room and big girl bed consistently and soundly since the transition! As Flora often says, “Good JOB, Flora Hergert!”
Planting A Garden (and 28 Months Old)
Sunday, May 18th, 2008Dad and I filled up the raised garden beds he made last year with soil, compost, and vermiculite … then planted some seedlings of tomatoes, hot peppers, basil, and strawberries. I’ll let you know how the fruits of our labors taste if the animals don’t get at them first! By the way, I turned 28 months old on Wednesday. Mom said she is going to stop counting at 30 — too much math for her Mommy brain!
UPDATE: I got to eat a couple ripe, red strawberries, but the squirrels or bunnies have stolen the rest!
In Potty News …
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008I went poops on the potty for the very first time yesterday when I was at school! I wasn’t sure about executing the whole thing, but my teacher encouraged me to stay seated, and the next thing we knew …
I’ve been peeing on the potty here and there at home and at school, and Mom says when I start to go on the potty regularly, I’ll get to wear my big girl panties with kitty cats on them!
UPDATE: Flora continues to pee on the potty at school consistently, but we haven’t graduated to pull-ups or panties just yet.
Kelly’s Roast Beef
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008To indulge my chocolate milk shake and french fries craving, Marty and Flora took me to dinner at Kelly’s Roast Beef. They were voted into the top 10 Best French Fries 2007 category by Boston City Search, and we soon learned why — a medium order was akin to a paper lunch bag FULL of crispy, delicious fries! We all agreed the frappes were damn tasty, too. And Flora enjoyed sitting next to one of the several fish tanks and pointing out the big and little fishes, and of course snuggling her Daddy.
New Trike
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008I got a new trike this past Christmas, but being that I live in New England, Dad was just able to put it together and bust it out this weekend. It was worth the wait — what fun to zoom around the neighborhood, ding the bell, and take brown bear for a ride!
35 Weeks
Monday, May 12th, 2008Flora gives Number Two a snuggle in utero at 35 weeks. She’s very sweet to the “bump” — she often kisses the baby, shares her binky with the baby via my belly button, and puts her hand on my belly to feel the baby kick. She told her teachers at school that the baby’s name was Reese, and that only Mommy has a baby in her belly … Daddy has a baby bear in his and she has a baby meow in hers.
Mother’s Day 2008
Sunday, May 11th, 2008I helped Dad make Mom a breakfast of strawberry and whipped cream topped pancakes and cappuccino for her Mother’s Day breakfast in bed. We even picked one of the tulips from the yard for her, but she didn’t eat that. And I painted her a special picture with water colors. Happy Mother’s Day to Moms and Grandmoms everywhere!
Spring Has Sprung
Saturday, May 10th, 2008Goober Pile
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008Red Sox Gear
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008Daddy and I now have matching Red Sox hats and tee shirts. Go, Sox!
Will and Jack’s Birthday Party
Sunday, May 4th, 2008Will (5) and Jack (3) Nerney hosted a joint dance-themed birthday party at the Needham YMCA Active Family Center this weekend. Flora wasn’t much interested in the dancing, but had a blast climbing, sliding, rolling, and tumbling on the play equipment and mats. Of course she didn’t snub the juice boxes, Cheetos, and chocolate cake with “bluuuuue fwosting” either!
