Saturday, November 29th, 2008Happy Thanksgiving 2008
Thursday, November 27th, 2008This year we again celebrated Thanksgiving (Charley’s first) with The Swans. Nana, Uncle Greg, Aunt Tracy and Uncle Chuck, and Cousin Gregory and Jen all made the trek to feast on Marty’s traditional spread of turkey and fixin’s. Chuck won the annual eating contest, devouring four pounds of food and drink. And as tradition would have it, we went Candlepin Bowling at the Wakefield Bowl-A-Drome, where Chuck also took top honors with a score of 94. And this time we took advantage of the pool at Tracy and Chuck’s hotel, where Flora practiced swimming with her bubble and Charley kicked and splashed for the very first time. Turns out the kid is a real water baby. Happy Thanksgiving!

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008Five Months Old
Thursday, November 20th, 2008Believe it or not, today I turned five months old. I’m getting pretty good at sitting up solo, and am working on rolling from my back to my tummy. Turns out I’m not so much of a fruit guy, but I’ll take veggies any day of the week. And I’ve been laying the lovin’ on thick with lots of slobbery kisses — the kind where I grab your face and nearly eat your nose off. Mom can’t get enough of them. Yah, I’m getting something good for Christmas for sure!

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008Scoop It!
Tuesday, November 18th, 2008It’s no surprise with as much as Flora loves to talk that she’s made up some her own words and expressions. Notable ones are “scrompy” (Flora explains, “it means when you are sick or crabby”) and “scoop it!,” which she uses to tell you off when she doesn’t like what you’ve just said.
Tales of Old
Saturday, November 15th, 2008Flora loves to hear stories from when Marty and I were little. Our new bedtime routine consists of at least one chorus of The Owl and the Pussycat (she knows the whole song by heart), and several tales of old. She often requests the story of when I scraped my neck on the parking lot fence or the one where I left Curious George outside in the willow tree. The other day at nap time, she asked, “Mom, do you want to hear a story of when I was little?” I of course said, “Sure.” Flora told this tale: “When I was a baby, I had two ponies [ponytails]. They were pink. One was named Greg … and the other was named Hanna.” I swear, you couldn’t make this stuff up if you tried.
Meeting of the Minds Over Dim Sum
Saturday, November 15th, 2008This morning we met friends Boulton, Porter, and dad Ken (mom Julia and baby William were home sick) at Hei La Moon in Chinatown for Dim Sum. I liked the sticky pork buns, fried dough, and jello shapes the best. It was fun using chopsticks and sipping Chinese tea … and pointing out all the dragons in the red and gold wallpaper.

Saturday, November 1st, 2008Yes, it has been this cold already! What’s even more unbelievable is that this hat and bunting are hand-me-downs … from Hudson … who is almost 10!
