Yes, folks, you read that right — Flora has been wearing her big girl underpants since last Saturday! She’s had very few pee accidents, and hasn’t had any poop accidents. I think we did everything wrong until we just backed off and let Miss Control Freak tell us when she was ready. I’m not gonna lie — we sweetened the deal with rewards of candy. So what? We’ll gladly trade changing diapers for trips to the dentist!

Friday, February 27th, 2009Mister Hat has mastered the art of backwards commando crawling. It may not get him to where he actually wants to go, but it does get him places. I keep forgetting he is mobile now, and left him in the living room for a few minutes unattended. When I went back in there, he was missing! Panic-stricken, I saw he had shimmied about four feet from where I left him, and had wedged himself under the ottoman.

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009I have a feeling Charley is going to be one to watch. He’s been successful at pulling himself up onto his feet, and has almost been able to pull up to a stance. He manages to scooch about the floor with various maneuvers, and grabs table legs and chairs in efforts to stand up. I think he might just be trying to bypass crawling and get right to walking. Gulp! He’s also discovered how to manipulate his fingers to clasp his hands, waive hi and bye, and give a high-five.

Thursday, February 5th, 2009Flora’s Preschool Progress Report: “Flora can assert her own needs verbally [bossy], she enjoys taking on pretend roles and situations [imaginative], she chooses to read books on her own and seeks information [nosey], and she asks questions/answers questions/actively participates in conversation [chatterbox].” Yep, I would describe Flora as very creative, very conversational, and full of personality and humor.
Charley’s Home Progress Report: Charley’s left bottom front tooth has also emerged, he pulls himself up on his knees, he lunges to his belly from a seated position, he shakes his head no, no, no to elicit a reaction, claps a lot, and he scooches forward on his bottom and backwards on his belly. Yep, I would describe Charley as engaging, strong, active, and loving.
