Flora loves to pretend she’s a hair dresser. She gets water from her play sink to wash with, uses a crinkly baby rattle for hairspray and a binder clip for scissors, and finishes the look with some strategically placed ponytail holders. Usually I am her victim, er, client, but today she gave some of her stuffed animals the treatment. She then posed them for pictures that she took all by herself. Is it just us, or does Charley look like Kevin Bacon? Or maybe Ed Grimley, with this hair?
We could stand the stringy bouffant no more, and brought Flora to a real salon for a proper haircut. Elana at Nicolo Salon in Melrose, where Amy gets her hair coiffed, managed to make Flora even cuter. Here Flora is showing off her new locks at Cedar Perk and later at Conant playground. Everyone admired her little curls … and she hammed it up, of course.
And just in case you’re wondering, this isn’t the same jumper Flora sported last year. Since she and Seneca share a taste in fashion, Flora has been handed down several of the same outfits in bigger sizes.
Marty coiffed the hairstyle and Flora crafted the face to come up with this silly bath picture. Sort of looks like Ed Grimley, huh? Bath time is still one of Flora’s favorite times of day where she enjoys drinking bath water and playing with her bath toys.
Today Flora punk-rocked her Vans, some overalls, and the two cutest pigtails you ever did see. She’s taken to liking the Ramones — the first few bars of “I Wanna Be Sedated” sends her squealing. Of course we think it’s cute now, but we’ll draw the line at ear lobe stretching, green hair, and studded leather accessories.
Amy and I couldn’t decide whether Flora looks like one of the blokes from A Clockwork Orange, a Munchkin representing the Lollipop Guild, or Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Today Flora rocked the “Pebbles Flintstone.” Yabbadabbadoo!
After trying several new hairstyles on Flora (The Mohawk, The Liza Minelli, The Donald Trump, The Albert Einstein, The Nellie Oleson, and The Old Lady), we concluded that this style, The Flora Hergert, is the one that suits her best!
Pretty soon we’ll be able to give her The Pippi Longstockings.
Bean did her best Elvis impersonation when she got out of the bath tub last night. We gave her a real nice ducktail hairstyle and she made the face all on her own.
If you look through the flickr photos, you can see how long Flora’s hair is in the back — pretty soon we’ll be able to put it in pigtails! Until then, we’ll have to work with the baby mullet.
