It’s important to test your snowman kits BEFORE winter arrives.

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009Apparently now Tom Cruise’s and Cameron Diaz’s latest movie, “Knight and Day,” will be filming a scene in Melrose this Friday along the Fellsway. Last week Ben Affleck was filming “The Town” in an old bank along Main Street. What gives?
Flora Feeds Charley
Friday, March 27th, 2009A couple of Saturdays ago, I was watching the kids by myself. Flora asked if she could feed Charley. I wasn’t sure it would work, but she did a great job and he really got a kick out of being fed by his big sister.
Chubby Tubby
Sunday, October 19th, 2008The kids love to take a bath together. Charley lounges in his baby tub and watches every move big sister Flora makes. She always gets him smiling and laughing with her silly sounds, which of course makes her smile and laugh, too. She says, “Oh, I don’t believe him … he’s such a cute boy!” Don’t ask me where she gets these expressions from.

For Amy’s birthday, I turned us all into Simspons characters — try it for yourself at www.simpsonsmovie.com. Then we headed into Melrose Center for dinner at the newly reopened and longley anticipated Stearns and Hill Bistro. Flora had fun getting into everything on the table and fishing out ice from our water glasses with our forks.

Sunday, December 31st, 2006Biscuit Mouth
Sunday, November 12th, 2006What the heck is this hanging out of my mouth? My parents call it a teething biscuit — which means I may get some pearly whites of my own someday. You know … I’ve been very crabby lately. Maybe once I get some teeth like Mom and Dad (and learn to crawl), I’ll feel better.
I can’t wait — teeth are fascinating to me. I like to watch my parents crunch cereal or Gerber puffs between their teeth because it makes a funny sound. I laugh and then imitate them by chomping on my food. I like to stick my fingers in their mouths, too, and try to grab their teeth. Teeth are so enticing!
Is That Horse Poop I Smell?
Wednesday, October 4th, 2006
Today a bunch of my friends (Henry, James, Raessler, Mackenzie, Lila, Emma, Bella, and Max!) and I took a field trip to Connors Farm in Danvers, MA. Despite being off my game (Mom isn’t sure if I am feeling sick or just teething) I had lots of fun picnicing next to the pond, picking apples from the grove, picking raspberries from the prickly bushes, and picking out a pumpkin to bring home for Halloween. I was so pooped from all the p-activities that I barely made it through Mom’s photo session, and promptly passed out in the car on the way home.
Flora Gets Her Groove On Video
Tuesday, September 26th, 2006After watching D-Qwon’s Dance Grooves, Flora decided she was ready to get her groove on. She discovered that standing up in her crib and shaking her booty was fun, funny, and worthy of some belly laughs.

Friday, September 8th, 2006Laughing at “Hello” Video
Wednesday, August 2nd, 2006Flora got the giggles after she ate some blueberries. All it took was a deep-voiced and drawn out “hello” to get her laughing from the belly.
Violet, You’re Turning Violet

Saturday, July 22nd, 2006
Flora dined on frog legs while enjoying a bubble bath yesterday evening — very aristocratic! The only thing remiss was the white tablecloth, lit candle, and glass of champagne.
In truth, frog legs are good for both noshing and sucking — apparently they help with teething troubles and have the subtle undertone of soapy, bath water. Delicious!
Take Me To Your Leader
Monday, July 10th, 2006
Amy and I couldn’t decide whether Flora looks like one of the blokes from A Clockwork Orange, a Munchkin representing the Lollipop Guild, or Riff Raff from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Help us decide. Cast your vote by posting a comment or tell us who she really looks like — a Dr. Seuss character, maybe?
Midwest Command Center
Wednesday, June 28th, 2006
From my Midwest Command Center stationed in the Kansas City, Missouri, kitchen of Grandpa David and Grandma Vicki, I am able to access even farther reaches of the universe.
Donned with my Chiefs baseball cap for cover, I continue to execute my plans for world domination. Now I just need to establish a West Coast Command Center and I will be unstoppable.

Tuesday, June 6th, 2006
As you can see, I now have a command center from which I can watch over my ever-expanding empire. So far I have successfully colonized the living room (with my playmat, papasan chair, Bumbo seat, swing, changing station, and toy box … oh, and my Baby Einstein videos, too). I seized an entire cupboard in the kitchen for my burp cloths, bibs, bowls, sippy cups, and bottles. My *mobile* command unit (aka the Honda CRV) houses my rocket-ship harness (Mom and Dad call it the car seat) and my stealth stroller. Plus, I have an entire bedroom all to myself. From the den, I formulate my plans to take over the universe — just try to stop me!

Monday, April 24th, 2006Sneezes Are Funny
Tuesday, April 4th, 2006Flora thinks sneezes are pretty funny — Marty had her in stitches last night just by fake-sneezing.
Hands down her favorite thing is interacting with people — she loves the faces, songs, and sounds they make. Recently she likes it when Marty sings the theme to All In The Family. Of course the Mrs. Binklesworth theme always gets a big smile.
Last night she and I had a 10 minute conversation — an exchange of gees, gahs, ah-goos, dah-dees, mah-mees, and the like. I think she’ll be a chatty one when she starts to talk!
