Taking a page from Annabelle’s book, Flora and I made a “fairy house” from sticks and bark in the back yard. The Fisher Price guy keeps vigil until the fairies move in.

With temperatures in the 50s this weekend, we took full advantage and met friend Ruby at the playground, walked and walked, had brunch at the local cafe on Sunday, and played in the yard the rest of the time.

Inspired by the big aquarium at the Chinese restaurant we went to last night, Flora drew this picture this morning.

Flora took her High School Musical Build-A-Bear outfit off the bear and put it on Rusty. She then gave him a hairstyle. Rusty has been sporting this look for a couple of weeks, and is now a girl, according to Flora.

Marty has been taking Charley to swim lessons at the YMCA on Saturday mornings — family is allowed to go and observe the last class. After just one session, Charley can almost already swim with just a bubble on, has no fear, and absolutely loves the water. He blows bubbles, splashes, kicks his legs, floats on his back and holds on to the side all by himself!

Despite the frigid temperatures, Flora insisted on wearing a tank top today — this one. She then picked out a twirly skirt and striped knee-highs, and requested that we play Freeze Dance.

Flora had her first visit to the dentist today — here she is showing off her pearly whites! Once the assistant walked her through all the dental tools and she got used to lying back in the chair, she let the assistant count her teeth (she has 20), polish them (mostly agreeable to this), floss, and apply a fluoride treatment. When the man with the white coat (the dentist) showed up, I had to sit in the chair with Flora, but once I did, she also let him take a look. The dentist predicts Flora will need to see an orthodontist early due to over-crowding and her bite. For being a good customer, she got a tooth award for joining the no cavity club, lots of stickers, a new pink toothbrush, and a goody bag to boot.

Flora got her very first “video game” for her fourth birthday, Splatser, and we finally figured out how to save her art to a USB drive. The game is really an electronic draw and paint platform for the tv, where the user can choose stampers, brushes, colors and more to create original artwork. Since she got the hang of the eye-hand coordination thing, she’s been pretty creative with her makings. Here’s one of them — a “birthday party for Ames” (she’s been calling me Amy and Ames as of late).
